Hello everyone!

As some of you know, Avalanche brought back our club program this year for the 2022-2023 club season. Prior to the pandemic we had a very strong club program. Unfortunately, early into the pandemic, our club program lost its practice facility and we’ve been out of the club scene for the last two years. With our return, the 2022-2023 teams are having some success early, so we’re already thinking about our growth for the 2023-2024 season.  To kick things off we’re adding an additional 13/14u team to compete in the 14u club division at the AAU Volleyball Festival tournament in June! This team will compete alongside our 12s, 13s, and 14s teams that will already be competing this summer.

Avalanche Athletics will select female athletes to compete for us in the AAU Volleyball Festival Championships in the 14u club division. This will take place from June 22 – 25, 2023 at the Phoenix convention center. This is a four-day tournament that brings in over 500 teams from all over the country. It’s a great way to get a taste of what club is about for those athletes looking to move in that direction. Eligible athletes are 13 – 14-year olds, who do not turn 15 prior to July 1, 2023, and are starting to think about moving on to club.

Your club age is determined by how old you are on July 1, 2023. Simply put, if you’re 13 on 7/1/23, you can play on a 13u team or older. Athletes cannot play down.

We’re going to add one additional 13/14s team (12 athletes) that will compete in the 14u Club Division this summer. The team will be open to anyone who is not currently signed with another club, not just current Avalanche Athletes. We’ll be having an informational meeting for you and your daughter on Sunday, April 16 at 2:45pm at the Thunderbirds BGCS: 20199 N. 78th Pl. Scottsdale, AZ 85255.

This is just an informative meeting and you are not committed to play by attending. We’ll be holding "selection clinics” and tryouts in April. I’ll be going over the cost, commitment, coaches, practice schedule, jerseys, and expectations. The first practices would be early May and go through the start of the tournament. The full practice schedule will be available at the informational meeting, but all practices will be at the Thunderbirds BGCS.
