DIGGIN’ FOR A CURE
One of our staff members, Allie Schwartz, is running for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Student of the Year Campaign. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or LLS, supports research for blood cancer, which in turn is leading us to advances in bone, prostate, brain, breast, and ovarian cancers. LLS also supports patients and families by improving the patient's quality of life. Student of the Year candidates participate in a 7 week competition against other Arizona high school students to fundraise for LLS in honor of children who are blood cancer survivors.
Allie became involved with LLS because she wants to give back to her community, and what better way to give back than with volleyball? Allie is holding a 4s sand tournament at Scottsdale Ranch Park as a way fundraiser fro her campaign. The tournament is Sunday, January 26, from 1:00-5:00pm and is open to anyone ages 13-17! Teams may include 4 or 5 athletes, male or female. The entry fee is $25 per player. Players are expected to self-officiate and report scores to the tournament tent.
For more information about the tournament or the campaign, please contact Allie: firstname.lastname@example.org.
